All 1975-79 Super Beetle Convertibles came from the factory with a hard plastic tacking ring around the back window. It was heat-glued into the metal frame. It is essential to replace this when changing your top, or the rear window will not fit properly. This one made of "Never Rot" Sanoprene hard rubber works well for holding staples, etc... Includes instructions and mounting screws. We also offer the synthetic insert (151-449E) or the 4 piece wood (151-449EW) if you prefer. Any of these options will work, however you only need one.

In addition, the metal frame for these years was reinforced to prevent stretching that occurred in earlier models. In most cases (95% of the time), the metal frames can be reused, but the rear window insert must be replaced.
